| North Carolina fights its way to #7, moving up one spot in this week's AP Top 25 poll. The Tar Heels join four ACC teams in the poll, the others being Duke at #5, Florida State (#15), and Virginia (#25). North Carolina started off the week with a win at Miami (FL), 73-64. That was followed by another win at home against Clemson, 74-52.
Duke stays put at #5 following a week that began with a win at home over NC State, 78-73. After that came another win at Boston College, 75-50.
Florida State moves up five places after wins against NC State, 76-62 and Virginia Tech, 48-47. Virginia moves down three spots after a win against Maryland, 71-44 and a loss to Clemson, 60-48.
Kentucky hangs on to number one for the fourth week in a row. New Mexico enters the Top 25 at #18 with an upset win at then-13th ranked San Diego State, 77-67 and an upset win at home over then-11th ranked UNLV, 65-45. Temple comes in at #22 with wins against Duquesne, 78-59 and St. Bonaventure, 76-70. Saint Mary's falls out of the Top 25 this week with an upset loss at home to Loyola Marymount, 75-60 and a loss at then-16th ranked Murray State, 65-51. Gonzaga drops out after a win against Santa Clara, 73-62 and a loss to San Francisco, 66-65.
