StatSheet projects North Carolina on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament with potentially a nine seed. The Tar Heels are unranked in the AP Poll and sit at #40 in the StatSheet StatRank with a 13-6 overall record and a 3-3 record in the ACC.
During its last four games, North Carolina looked solid with wins against Georgia Tech, Maryland, and Florida State but also took on a loss against AP #18 NC State.
North Carolina struggles against strong competition, with a 5-4 record against the RPI Top 100 but a 1-4 record against the RPI Top 50 and an 0-4 record against AP ranked teams. While the Tar Heels have a single quality win against RPI #14 UNLV, they're also dinged by two bad losses including RPI #118 Virginia and RPI #142 Texas.
The last four teams into the NCAA Tournament with at-large bids are Maryland (15-5, 3-4 ACC, StatRank #64), La Salle (14-5, 4-2 A-10, StatRank #28), St. John's (12-7, 4-3 Big East, StatRank #61), and Rutgers (12-6, 3-4 Big East, StatRank #57).
