On February 15th on the road, the Tar Heels beat the Hurricanes in conference play, 73-64.
A couple items of note about these two teams: On the road, the Tar Heels play well, but the Hurricanes were playing well and had won 4 out of 5. This is a second meeting and a sweep over the Hurricanes this year.
North Carolina gained an advantage by coming out way ahead in turnover margin and to a smaller extent in free throw shooting.
The Tar Heels collected 16 points from free throws compared to six for the Hurricanes. The Tar Heels only gave the ball away eight times compared to 14 for the Hurricanes.
Harrison Barnes put up the most points against the Hurricanes with 23 on 47% shooting from the floor in 32 minutes. John Henson was a factor with a game-leading 11 rebounds.

The Tar Heels are now 22-4. They improve to 9-2 and remain in 1st place in the ACC. They now have a 8-4 record against the RPI Top 50 (Miami (FL) #33).
